Four years ago, Catherine decided to take an online floristry course to develop flower arranging skills, having always been a lover of flowers and gardening,
Catherine spent 20+ years the corporate world so floristry was initially this was for her own interest. She quickly got ‘the bug’ and completed a number of further college courses, as well as in-house florist training. She was asked by a friend to provide flowers for their wedding which was quickly followed by other requests, including funeral work. Flowers by Catherine was born!
Just before she began her training, Catherine was diagnosed with severe depression. Determined not to quit, she pursued her goals and set up the business, becoming even more passionate about her work. Catherine’s floral workshops, which are designed to promote the importance of wellbeing, were created by drawing on her own experiences.
Catherine, having lived in Harpenden since she was 11, has a number of friends – and customers – in the local area. With one son at university and the other in sixth form, Catherine devotes her time to following her dream.
